PPM 2000's 20th year as an ASIS exhibitor involved an extreme roller coaster ride (a team-building exercise), an action-packed President's Reception at Disneyland (no strollers and no line-ups. Well, at least not for the rides) and a lot of discussion around how much has changed since PPM 2000 introduced the industry's first Incident Management solution, Security Intrack, during the 1989 ASIS Annual Seminar & Exhibits.

Twenty years ago, attendees looked at PPM's small booth with a little uncertainty and a lot of confusion. The tagline, "The New Intelligence," didn't help; so much of the show. make that all of the show. was spent explaining the concept of Incident Reporting and Investigation Management software to attendees who, we quickly learned, didn't even have computers on their desks. Fast forward ten years, a transition from DOS to Windows and hundreds of customers, PPM 2000 had doubled the size of the company's booth, but we were still explaining the concept of Incident Management software. Another ten years later, and you can definitely see the difference. Most significantly, Incident, Investigation and Case Management software is now a mainstay in the industry. Attendees come to the show with Incident Management software on their wish lists, and our clients stop by to tell us how pivotal our software is in their day-to-day operations.

So, if we're not explaining what "Incident Management software" is, what questions are we getting? Join us for our October Webinar where we'll cover this year's Hot Topics. the questions we were asked most during ASIS. We'll cover technology, integration and internationalization. You'll learn about features, functionality and everything in between.
A huge thank you goes out to the many clients and colleagues who have worked with PPM over the past twenty plus years. We have watched the Corporate Security industry evolve with tremendous technological advancements and innovations. But, at the heart of the matter, a lot has stayed the same. Looking back at the brochure that we passed out during that first ASIS show, here's the list of benefits we promoted for Security Intrack:
- Accurately document financial loss due to security incidents.
- Develop strategies to improve loss prevention.
- Strengthen the accountability of your security force.
- Present solid information for any court action.
- Justify your security budget and improve financial forecasting.
- Control insurance costs through improved record keeping and documentation.
- Prepare concise, convincing reports at a moment’s notice.
- Demonstrate the efficiency and problem solving capabilities of your security department.
And, that's word-for-word from September 1989! The core benefits offered by Incident Reporting and Investigation Management software are clearly the same as they were then. The look and feel of the system, the scope of what we're able to do and the overall sophistication that we deal with. that's where the differences lie. We're a long way from the day when pie charts topped the wish list and, believe it or not, they topped it for a number of years.
See you in Dallas!
