An important part of today's PSIM initiatives, Perspective by PPM 2000 provides incident data collection and analysis complete with integrations to the industry's leading emergency preparedness, situation management and access control solutions.
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada—October 27, 2010—PPM 2000, the global leader in Incident Reporting and Investigation Management software, announced the release of Perspective Integration Services and, with it, PPM’s Incident Management Alliance Network, a group of companies working with PPM to leverage interoperability and the sharing of incident data across applications. By partnering with companies like CNL, ERMS and Brivo, PPM is able to complement a company’s initial incident response and data collection with comprehensive incident records, investigation management and intelligence-driven analysis and reports.
PPM’s flagship application, Perspective, is an enterprise solution for reporting incidents, managing investigations and building cases. As a .NET Web service that leverages Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), Integration Services defines how data is moved between Perspective and other business applications thereby opening the door for interoperability while preserving the integrity of Perspective’s business rules, including established access rights and user permissions. By following current web standards and using XML, Integration Services can communicate with a number of development platforms and languages thereby facilitating interoperability with a variety of external systems.
Starting at the front end with incident response and situation management, data can now be transferred to Perspective from an access control system, video management system or mobile device. As a result, incidents can be documented real-time and notifications can immediately be sent to senior management and investigators. An example of this type of integration was demonstrated at the ASIS Annual Seminar & Exhibits where Brivo Systems showcased how specific events (e.g., door forced open, invalid card, etc.) logged by the Brivo ACS automatically trigger a Perspective incident. As a result of this escalation to incident status, the in-depth statistical analysis and follow-up investigation management provided by Perspective are now possible.
For HR, legal and asset management purposes, access to incident data means the ability to search historical records for persons or items of interest directly from the applications used by these departments, including visitor management, asset management and CRM systems.
Commented Brian McIlravey, CPP, PPM 2000’s Co-CEO, “With Perspective Integration Services, companies can share incident data across applications facilitating prompt incident documentation and open access to incident records. With the opportunity for out-of-the-box integrations between vendors as well as user-specific custom applications, Integration Services removes the boundaries between applications and greatly reduces the redundancies across disparate systems.” Added Elaine O’Sullivan, President & Co-CEO, “As companies build Perspective databases that encompass thousands of incidents, they want to accelerate data entry and improve access to information. Integration Services accomplishes both of these objectives. We’re making it easier to capture timely incident data, and we’re making the data within Perspective more accessible to other interest groups.”
